Congratulations, Jeremy Martin of Friendship, NY!
“Winter Frost” has been selected as the 2011 NYFalls.com Photo Contest winner.
What our judges had to say:
“There were so many wonderful photos submitted for this contest that selecting only one as a winner was a daunting task. The muted tones and the overall feeling of serenity that this photo conveys captured my eye and my heart as soon as I saw it. Winter can be so long and brutal in this part of the country, but this photo reminds me of how incredibly beautiful it can be as well.” - Brenda
“Framed by the soft pine forest in the background and the dark, reflective pond in the foreground – the ice laden branches look as if powdered sugar fell from the sky and landed in all the right places. Congratulations on your perfect capture of this stunning image!” - Kelly
“From the glass-like black water to the crystalline white frost, this image captures a magical moment during a New York winter, in a single frame.” – Chris
“This is the type of image that makes you want to wake up early on a cold NY winter morning and go for a walk to see what orninaries have turned extraordinary.” - Matt
About the Photo:
The photo was taken in Jeremy’s backyard across a pond in the early morning of New Year’s Eve. He used a Canon 5D MKII, with 24-105mm lens, at f/8 and 1.0 sec.
Honorable Mentions:

I agree with the selection! Excellent photograph. The white frosted branches of the hardwoods against the green of the conifers coupled with the subtle reflections of the water in the foreground is striking!
Excellent choices judges! This is a beautiful photo!
Matt…who are you kidding? You get out in the winter? Lol.
I don’t, which is why this photo works… now I don’t have to.
Nice choice for the winning photo. Congrats to Jeremy for a great capture.
Thanks to the judges for the honorable mention.
