I spotted this Great Spangled Fritillary while walking down the driveway this afternoon. Any one else have any interesting sightings/photos?

These little butterflies are all over the place right now. They scatter in little clouds as I walk across the yard. I believe that the first photo is a Least Skipper. The other two are likely either a Northern or Pearl Crescent, but I can't be sure which:

I don't have good luck finding butterflies. I may take my camera into the Butterfly museum at Niagara to get some close-ups... I don't want to get a feeder because I don't like whole the rotten fruit thing.

Brenda... you must either have a long zoom or really sneak up on those.

If you have the space in your yard, you could plant one of the wildflower mixes that attracts butterflies. The nice thing about wildflowers is that they're low maintenance. I just let the "weeds" grow up around my office this year, and guests have asked if I planted all of those flowers!

I only have a built in zoom right now, until I can afford to upgrade. I just leaned over the railing of my office porch to take those and then I adjusted/cropped them. That's the wonderful thing about digital--I just take a ton of photos of any given subject and sort through them later.

When I came out to shut down the office a few minutes ago, this butterfly was trying desperately to get out through a screen window (small brain--door was wide open). I rescued it, and it hung out on my finger long enough for me to add a photo to my collection:

White Admiral

I'm sure that everyone has seen these, but they rarely stay still long enough to get a shot, to say nothing of trying to photograph a white butterfly in bright sunlight (with a lame camera). I've seen as many as a half a dozen of these spiraling across the yard like a tiny tornado. It just occurred to me that the "pod" in the upper left corner looks like the plant in "Little Shop of Horrors."
