Don't forget that it looks like a German tank. That's good and bad, not that I ever cared about what my cameras looked like as long as they worked well.

I think the design is purposely rugged looking. Maybe a German tank is a bit too rugged, let's say a Mercedes G (which I like).

Are we talking about the same camera?!
It's the tiny one there on top. Paint it pink and it looks like Barbie's camera! :camera:

Yeah.
The one on the top is the EM-1 (mirrorless micro 4/3)
Middle is the E-620, which I'm selling (compact 4/3 SLR)
Bottom is the weather sealed E-5 SLR (standard 4/3 SLR)

The tops one packs more buttons into the body than the bottom one.

Ugly, metal, and a lot of knobs and buttons. A true geek camera.
This is what I was referencing. Though, the comparison picture is impressively small and does not remind jealous of a tank. The ugly, metal, and a lot of knobs... Is where the German tank image came to mind.

definitely built like a tank. it's all metal, wether sealed, freeze proof, and there are some pics/videos around the web of people standing on it, freezing it, drenching it...

I dropped my E-5 in water, fell numerous time with it in hand, let my nephew play around with it, got sand all over it, rarely packed it away properly. it's still in great shape. The EM-1 seems to have a more rigid body, but more buttons and dials, probably means more spots for it to break or leak. Either way.. it certainly will get the same treatment over the forthcoming years.

what i don't like is the tilt LCD can't be flipped over for storage. I may have to buy a thick protector.
