This extended exposure, taken at night on a dock at Canandaigua Lake, shows the flight patterns of many insects as they paint with light from a dock lamp. Note the wing-beating patterns.

And here's a cool video of it as it moves across the room. Note the rocking motion to allow it depth perception, and when it swings its head to see me, that's pretty creepy:

Plenty! Yes the brown recluse spider. And the cobras and other snakes. And the mosquitoes carrying dengue fever.

I always thought they rocked like that to mimic leaves and branches blowing in the wind. You learn something new everyday.
