Hailed as a means of eradicating hunger and diminishing animal suffering, in-vitro meat starts with animal stem cells cultured in a nutrient-rich bath. It’s still years away from the supermarket shelf. But will anyone really want to eat it?
I could do the test tube meat. I think at first it will be like tofu... too consistent to be a meat substitute. It will have to have vegetable fats and spices added to it to mimic processed meats just like Tofurkey and tofu dogs to. Eventually they will be able to culture in veins, cartilage, and fat so it tastes a bit more like meat cuts. Then I think it could be revolutionary. A perfect cut of meat, consistent, and flavorful, without actually having to kill for it.
