A final series of photos showing various sights around the town including our hotel, people on streets and in parks, a tour by bike, colourful buildings, Occupy NOLA...and my very favourite photo - the first one - showing our carriage ride through the French Quarter as the sun was setting. Our driver let the mule lead the way, for the most part, and turned to us with a running commentary on the history and sights we were passing.

Well...I don't really know Matt...I think he just sits around sometimes...makes a good photo...and people are so used to him...no one even seems to notice him there! There are SO MANY colourful characters walking the streets of NOLA ...buskers and acts of all descriptions...everywhere...gets to be "normal" after awhile.
This was taken just outside of Cafe du Monde (where they make the beignets with powdered sugar) ...look at the ground...it's covered with white powder...a feast for ants! People sit out here and eat their beignets 24 hours a day. It's probably the most famous eatery in NOLA ...and that's all they serve...with cafe au lait. Delicious!

You go girl! What a fantastic series you've shared. Thank you, thank you. One of my favorites - so many to choose from and hard to pick just one,....but the beverage in the paper bag on the steps is awesome (I'm a sucker for simplicity). Just great. What a privilege to view these!!

Ah....thanks Kelly...so glad you noted that paper bag on the stairs...one of my very favs too.
I walked down those stairs in the ferry terminal and turned to look back and spotted it sitting there.
I had to take a picture...the appeal to me is often the story behind what I see...wondering...who put it there? why? Where did they go after? Simplicity and complexity in one.
Every picture tells a story, right?
Glad you enjoyed the look at NOLA...if you've never been...I highly recommend a visit.
