Share your Baby photography tips here.

A few to start:

Photographing in a hospital means you'll be under harsh fluorescent lights. Set your white balance for this.

Don't wait for open eyes... it may not happen right now... just keep shooting.

Go for close-ups of the hands and feet.

Babys in hospitals or baby portraits?

This one today is too adorable. Obviously mostly luck. BUT! I got a fairly inexpensive lighting system from Cowboy Studios ($140). The equipment is not super high quality, but if you don't do portraits a ton, certainly reasonable. However, there is no question the best "investment" made for portrait taking. Used Two Umbrella lamp stands that each had (4) 45w photo lights, plus a camera mounted flash turned way down.

Notice two different skin tones, and only slight shadows under the chins and near his collar. No rear shadows. No darkness even between Mom and daughter.

End of story... maybe you add lighting to your already burdensome list of equipment.
