Robert Moses Parkway remains point of dispute
NIAGARA FALLS — Rick Crogan remembers when his grandfather, who was in the tourism business, first shared his opinion about the Robert Moses Parkway.

“He said, ‘When they built a parkway, they built a China wall.’ And he’s absolutely right,’” said Crogan, president of the Main Street Business & Professional Association. “It separates the city completely from our natural beauty.”

Crogan has joined community activists and city officials who support the removal of the parkway within Niagara Falls. Many also want the stretch between the city and Lewiston removed.

Also vocal are those who oppose the removal between the two communities.

More than five years after the city and state embarked on a study of the parkway’s future, residents will have a chance this week to share their opinions on six proposed alternatives.

I dont know if I would call it ghetto...but the elements on the other side of the parkway are not the classiest of citizens...so by removing it and allowing the city to be closer...not so sure thats going to do anything to help the area. If anything the parkway serves as a convenience to the hordes of tourists scavenging for something worthwhile to visit on the American side. The Canadian side has River Rd/Niagara Parkway, it hasnt disrupted the way of life or the booming tourism industry that they have established. Both parkways curve past the falls and head north towards Ontario, one side does it well...the other doesnt.

You're implying that there's non-scary neighborhoods in the Falls? :fear:
