Thanks, spyac. Oooops, yeah. I guess I gave you every detail except that!
It was taken at 11:09 pm.

Nice image Kelly. I tried to capture it, but I couldn't get the detail on the surface at all. Just a big glob of light.

For being a supermoon....I didn't really think there was anything to super about it. It seemed to be as big/bright as most full moons.

Great moon shots everyone
Kelly that is a really good handheld photo. If my hands were only that steady.
Here's my attempt Saturday night 11:37PM

Cool shots, everyone!

Thanks Kyle. I got blobs at first too. Just kept experimenting.

Ah, Mike - I'm pretty lazy. I've got to attribute the handheld success to the shutter speed on that one. A lot easier than setting up a tripod in the dark. 8)

As for super or not.....I didn't make notice of it until around 11pm, when it looked like any other full moon, but the shots I've see of it as it rose are spectacular!

I've not tried taking a picture while it was rising or setting. I always thought that what you were seeing was an illusion. One way that you can trick your mind out of the moon illusion is to bend over at the waist and look at the moon upside down through your legs. Give it a try, let me know how it works out for you. Just be careful when you take the picture.
