Thanks all. They aren't really that creepy once you get used to them. If you know the history of a place and you are there it can really absorb your imagination to think to what it was like when in operation.

Abandoned State Asylum in Newark.
I remember as a kid riding my bike and skateboard around the paved roads on the campus. I never really thought back then of what great architecture surrounded me, or what neat things one might discover inside. I also recall in my mischevious years trying to sneak into a hatch in one of the yards to the tunnels that spread across the campus ...although as I remember we werent prepared and it was a long way from the ground down to the floor of the tunnel.
Now owned by Finger Lakes DDSO and FLCC. They use a few buildings on campus, but there are roughly 10 buildings that are all boarded up and left for ruin. If not boarded up the windows have steel bars across them making entry not so easy. I left a message with the DDSO security (# posted on the locked doors) to seek permission to enter the buildings, but as figures have not received a return call. I am suprised that virtually nothing other than a local newspaper article can be found online about this place.

It would be an urban explorer's treat to see what lies behind these walls.
