Did anyone else take pictures of fireworks this past July 4th holiday? I’ve been trying to figure out this tricky challenge and think I’m starting to get it. The first two photos were taken at our family fireworks show we staged on the beach at our cottages on Lake Ontario, near Sodus Point. I set up a long way down the shore to catch the people on the beach as well as the full bursts high above in the sky. Fully manual for these and used BULB mode with a remote trigger.
The others were taken from a boat out on the Sodus Bay, where dozens of other boats were parked to watch the local town show over the water from the lighthouse pier. I wasn’t planning these shots but the water was calm, so I tried my luck with a fast 50mm prime lens …all taken hand held…full auto mode…and not bad with those limitations, I think.

Thanks Matt... that was a surprise for me... I didn't expect to get good shots handheld on a boat. I took my prime lens ...and got lucky with a very calm evening. :)

Thanks Brenda. This is the first time I've been happy with photos I've taken of fireworks. :)

Sensational, Mikell!
