totally possible. just be sure to take that bag of parts out of the cavity before cooking the bird.
what to leave out? definitely the pumpkin pie. yuk.
Shortcuts like pre-cut squash (if you like it), and even prepared gravy are fine - but I can't endorse canned cranberries. Buy the whole berries in a bag and follow the easy directions for whole sauce.
And take pictures!

The only think i like a bout canned cranberry sauce is that it retains its shape and it's fun to play with. I will buy it for play only.
squash is ... not my thing. Potatoes... to much work. Corn... definite. bread... breadmaker. Pumpkin pie will definitely be left out. Someone highly recommended wegmans' carrot cake, which I'm not too sure about using carrots to make desserts, but I think this may be my chance to give it a go. Asparagus cooked in garlic fried in olive oil and seasalt.
To drink? Carolan's Irish Cream

Sounds good. All except for the canned cranberries. I know alot of people who swear by those artistic ridges in that canned crap.

I make carrot cake for special occasions. As cakes go, it's my favorite. Wegman's carrot cake is not bad (not as good as mine of course ;) ), but they use raisins which is really the perfect way to lose points with me. For store bought, it's a good choice. And you don't really taste the carrots at all. You'll get more of a spice cake taste. Mine has pineapple (makes it really moist). Theirs does not.

The best commercial cake ever is lemon blueberry cake from JonJohn's Bakery. Here's a pic sans blueberries. Is it oozing with lemony goodness, you ask? Why, yes it is!

I'll be making apple pie. Or crisp. I don't know which. And definitely not a turkey.

Butternut squash with jalapenos has been, until today, the best kept secret in the culinary world. You heard it here first.

Doesn't the squash counter the goodness of the peppers?

If squash isn't your thing, I definitely recommend a peanut butter and jalapeno sandwich on whole wheat bread. You'll think you died and went to heaven.

New York Public Library's menu collection!
Start in the 1850's

The University of Nevada - Las Vegas also seems to have an impressive collection of digitized old menus - but not nearly as user friendly as NYPL's site.
