Unfortunately, when I arrived at Moss Glen Falls, the area below the falls where you gain access, was undergoing some major construction. The area was cordoned off,but I was able to sneak in a few shots.

The falls of the Granville, VT area are the ultimate swimminghole destination. I swam here in August, 2007. There's an even better swimminghole falls just a bit further north. Here's more info:

New Yorkers will notice a big difference in the waterfalls of New England. Here granite dominates, making for a much different character than you'll see in the falls and gorges of upstate NY.

The best vantage point is off the boardwalk, where you will have to hop over the railing. So go early in the day when the crowds won't see you do it. A good day would be Texas Falls along Rt 125, Moss Glens Falls and Warren Falls farther up Rt 100. Mom and Pop (not mine) usually sell maple syrup on weekends at the Moss Glens Falls parking lot.

Thanks George for the info. It might be difficult timing wise to get there early. We will either hit it on the way from Lake George, or on the way back from Stowe.
I had not heard of Texas or Warren Falls. I will check them out. I do plan on getting to Moss Glen Falls in Stowe as well. This will be our first trip to Vermont. I remember reading that you had a lot of experience there.

We stopped here on our way to Stowe. A nice set of waterfalls and very easy to access. We were fortunate to arrive when people were leaving so we were able to have the falls to ourselves. For both falls I went off the boardwalk, though the lighting was tough similar to the shot above. Very direct sunlight on the falls with dark surroundings.
