If you enjoy the Public Market - and have interest in its history, this is a great book. I'm reading it now and the old photos are wonderful! It's very expensive online, so you're better off picking it up at the market office for $20 or finding it at your local library.

Rochester Public Market ranked top in United States
Rochester received more than 5,000 votes, nearly double the total for the second-place finisher in the large-market category...

Rochester sure has a lot of pride in its public farmners market, but in the cities I have visited, I have seen similar if not better. Including two in NYC.
I think there is just a mentality Rochesterians have that ours in unique.
Either way... I need to make it there next week to stock up on fruit.

Magnum photographers at the Public Market today
I've seen a couple of other photographers do some pretty cool stuff here lately. Will be anxious to see how and what these guys shoot.
Pictures will allegedly be posted on
their Facebook page.
Not easily starstruck, I'll have to admit that I had no clue who/what a Magnum photographer is. Whatever.....
A little bird told me that Mikell was hangin' out in the rain with them.
Ok, Mikell. Post some photos here!
Pretty please?

Here's the link to my Picasa album...If I have time I'll post a few of the pics...but you can see them here:
I gather these photographers are pretty famous...I did check out a couple of their web pages...some amazing work.
I was hoping that they would have an exhibit of photos at the market...but it was just a portrait shoot for a project called House of Pictures...
so...decided...why not participate while I was there...and have a world famous photographer take my portrait.
...worth the cheap thrill to stand in the rain...

It must've been a cool experience! Thank you for sharing these! Were you given the picture that they took of you?

No...they gave everyone a card with an invitation to "find your free portrait next Saturday at our pop-up exhibition" ...Rorhbach Warehouse, Railroad St., Rochester. ...and visit all week at the Visual Studies Workshop on Prince St. to see the project unfold.
It sounds really interesting.
