Hi from Singapore. I spent the afternoon at Singapore Botanical Gardens. Hope I got a few good ones. I came across this dragon. This photo is with iphone. All I had with me was the macro lens. What would you have done? Would you have gotten close? I went around the other side and got within a meter! Hope the photo turns out.

I know it's not a bug but I shot this while I was shooting bugs in Singapore.

Here is the komodo dragon that I ran across in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. All I had with me was my macro lens, so I had to get very close. My heart was racing, and after I took the photos and stepped away I was out of breath. I have no idea if dragons bite, but ignorance breeds fear!

well.... that scares me away from visiting any gardens in Singapore
:fear:

That spider is freaky!

Here's another non-scary garden spider

Matt, I use a Meike MK-14 EXT ring flash. It is essentially a copy of the Canon model but a fraction of the price. I have been using it in TTL mode but from what I understand I might get better results in manual. I shoot in the camera's M mode at F18 and 1/125 second at iso200.

A cool feature is that the flash has LED lights as well as the strobe. You can flip on the LED to help with focus.

What do you use for light?
