The movie has been released. No idea if it will be shown anywhere near us. (If anyone has information, please post! Thanks.)

The few reviews I could scrounge up were positive.

Ultimately, Finding Vivian Maier chronicles a rather sad tale. Maier died penniless, descending into what appears to have been ever deepening mental illness. However, there is the work and the work is undeniable. Vivian Maier lived life on her own terms, with a level of independence that was rare for women of her time. She forfeited a lot in her own life to produce the work and the work speaks for itself. Finding Vivian Maier is an absolute must see...

Indie films hitting rochester all depends on how well they do in NYC, and it's not even showing there.
But I think it would hit iTunes sooner rather than later.

I have the BBC documentary, which is an hour and ten minutes. Haven't seen it yet. It's one or the other for me.

I'm mesmerized by her, not only because of her incredible photography, but because of her eccentricity, lifestyle, extreme introversion and her ability to keep the whole of her passion a complete secret.

I hadn't realized until today that she also dabbled in videography.
