Back in the old town of Lijiang, we eat at a canal-side noodle place. The lighting is strong yellow and green here.

I row of street vendors in the Lijiang Old Town...
Selling the fried dough (from the previous post); boiled corn; walnut cakes

Some Yunnan dish, i forget what it is.

Sweet beans and hot chilies over sticky rice

Shrimp on a stick (to be grilled to order). Seafood disgusts me. How does one eat the whole shrimp?
Image

Beetle larvae on a stick (to be grilled to order).

Sweet rice cakes. The drawings are actually the pictographic Dongba writing system of the naxi people.

Fried Tofu covered in chili powder

Fried bantam eggs on a stick

I order up two yak-on-a-sticks and one black-goat-on-a-stick
Image

Of course, it's all fried in the same oil used for the shrimp, bugs, and whatever else.

In every corner of the old town, people just set up a little cooking station and sell snacks
Image

You can buy flavored yak yogurt everywhere.
Image

There's quite a bit of international food, such as this strawberry crepe.
Image

One of my favorite dishes was this clay pot casserole
Image

It is a mix of pork, veggies, pickles, and potatoes over roasted rice.
Image

You get a cup of chicken soup to pour on top.

Delicous

After a pretty traumatic journey through meat section of the public market in Lijiang, a quick meal:

Image

Pork dumplings, spicy fried potatoes, chili dipping sauce
Image

Fried rice with potatoes
Image

The potatoes are deep fried and then smothered in chili oil
Image

Fried chicken feet for sale
Image

Some fruity drink with some weird fruit in it.
