The moon challenge is long over....so how about a place to post those shots you take of all things that glow in the sky....

Quickly experimented with the Moon/Venus/Jupiter threesome last night. Keep your eye on the western sky for the next little while for some great photo opportunities.

And now for the most difficult thing I've ever tried to focus on. Not totally successful, but - with a little bit of imagination, you can sort of, kind of, tell it's Jupiter with its 4 largest and brightest moons. I hope someone else feels inspired to give this a try.

Amazing shots all!

I didn't know it was even possible to see the moons of Jupiter!
I think I need a better zoom! ;)

Yeah, well. Ha ha. I'll tell you what. You get a longer lens. I'll get a better tripod and/or my own fully equipped observatory. And we'll meet under the night sky. Plan?

640 mm equivalent. And then a very substantial crop. If I try it again, ideally, I would like to get a better contrast on Jupiter itself, which will be difficult because the moons are so dim in comparison. It won't happen. Too much effort and not enough patience/motivation. By then I'll be on to a new quest.
