Reading a blurb in a random science article "To date, only one New World lizard, Anolis carolinensis, has been reported to exhibit chitinolytic activity" and remembering you are the one that disproved it by discovering another genus that can digest chitin about 14 years ago. :D

Despite living in the wrong place to view this morning's total lunar eclipse, being able to see the moon live as it changes from a white to orangey-pink to red orb, here:

http://events.slooh.com/ Cool stuff.

If you slept in and missed it, you'll have to wait til 2014 for the next one.

Switching landline and internet access from Frontier  to Verizon . And getting some of the best customer service I've ever experienced to go along with it.

Yes - in that my old landline is now run wirelessly by Verizon.

Same number and same phones - now handled by cell tower magic via a cute little box on my counter. Was there last Thursday on other business and was told about the landline/internet package they offer. Got a nice deal. Even paying Frontier to get out of my existing contract, I will come out way ahead in terms of cost. It's been up and running since last night and it all works like a charm. So glad to be rid of Frontier.

I got rid of Frontier years ago. I will never do business with that disaster again.

Think of how bad it was when you left and multiply it by 1000. The real victims are the people, mostly 65+, who don't realize they have a choice. What Frontier does to dupe people should be illegal.

Although their pricing and customer service was atrocious, the thing i will remember most, and pretty much summarizes the kind of company they are... for a 6 month period for which i used their autopay feature, they paid their own bills late, I spent maybe 6-8 hours of my own time trying to get it right over the phone, eventually turned off autopay and paid by check. They NEVER took back the late fees; continued to subtract the autopay amount from my account after i cancelled it (theft) and then charged me a "deactivation" fee when i turned off my service. They can rot in hell. I hope they go under (and they will). In the age of cell phones they are obsolete, and they have yet to appreciate the few customers that haven't left. F-- them.
Ohh.... and when i switched, they told me I couldn't take my number, which was a complete lie, and an illegal one at that.

On the other hand... I was happy with time warner service, yet dropped cable and I can't complain.

Thirdly, I was happy with Verizon service when i used them for cell phone service. I never had a dropped call. I think cell phone companies have caught on that if people don't get decent pricing and service, they can switch so easily.
I really wish Verizon would bring the fiber optics to Rochester. We would have some nice competition as far as internet and TV if they did.
