Does anyone know of a local store that carries filters? Looking for some 58mm filters and dont want to wait for delivery.

I checked out both their websites already and they are less than informative. Guess I'll call or stop in.

Yeah, I'd call - doesn't seem like they are listing all the goods they must sell.

That would be awesome Matt! I am not too keen on Rowe from what I've read about them on here, and I just tried to call Hahn and they are closed! How do they expect to sell anything when they operate under banking hours? Also I am sure I can get them much cheaper from Amazon or Ebay than at retail prices. Will you be around Saturday? I'll be passing through Hen around 2.

So I am curious...

Do you shop locally for photo equipment? Needed a camera battery and the charger. Went to Rowe and left with a $200 bill. But here is the thing. They had it in stock. They know cameras. So I toy with saving some bucks and not paying sales tax with my strong desire to support the local people who are there day in and ay out who answer your questions.

Any thoughts?

I buy locally these days, but never at Rowe because of a bad experience... but I always comparison shop. My threshold for buying local is 10%, accounting for tax. Higher, then forget it.
For a battery and a charger,... the cheapest place would be e-bay, from a reputable seller, for 200, you could have probably gotten two chargers (home and car) and about 6 -10 batteries with almost the capacity and reliability of the OEM. But they usually ship from China and would have taken at least 10 days to arrive.

I bought spare batteries for both my cameras from Battery Heads online (cheap) and the one for my Panasonic has outlived the one that came with the camera. But, by no means local.

In retrospect, probably not a wise buy. Attached are google results. Taxes and freight not included in these two options. So maybe add $20 plus dollars for tax and shipping. Your at $160 versus my $194. But may I add? I needed it pronto. One call. it was in stock. Picked it up one hour later.Literally.

Filters, software, lens can often wait. Anyway i am sorry that local people can not deliver the price advantage. I so wish it were the case.

It does seem that often you can spend hours on line to save five bucks...then search for the out of state carrier to not pay NYS tax...then search for free shipping...then struggle with some distant provider with some decent reviews only to wonder if your order will deliver at the two week estimated shipping date.

No easy solution?

Rowe has matched online pricing for me several times. But I had to ask. This was several years ago. I'd rather just shop online.
