Their website says they got started in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania. The site does say all of their "desserts, such as our cakes, pies, and waffle cones, as well as our ice creams, [are made] right in the store where they’re served."Matt wrote:Locally, owned franchise, I think...
Local ice cream joint of choice?

There are actually three locations here: Henrietta, Irondequoit and Webster.

I went to Reed's Ice Cream in Henrietta. Nice size quantities of homemade ice creams, but the consensus in my group was that it was not better than store bought Perry's ice cream. In fact the black cherry that I had, was very skimpy on the cherries.

Thanks for the heads up, Matt. My husband and I were so taken with Bruster's that we haven't had a chance to visit Read's. We'll probably skip it now.

Went to Bruster's for the first time tonight. I knew there was at least another local shop, but didn't realize it was a fairly large chain. Slightly disappointed by that....so I guess I don't consider it local. But the ice cream was good. I had black cherry, which the nice worker gave me a sample of when I asked if it had lots of cherries in it. It did have quite a few, but the best part was that they were huge and juicy - not flimsy little bits like most places. The single was ample, but I wouldn't call it huge by any means. I'll return.
