To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams.

LOL! Your first URL was a .com link - for a product I couldn't even figure out.

Now I get it. Thought it was an inside joke or something! 8)

There is one outside of Utica that I want to buy and make into a restaurant (If I had money that is :)

The plan was to call it "The Cuckoo's Nest".....the waitress's would wear medical outfits, and the chef's as doctors. On the walls would be photos of the three stooges and such....

Anybody have spare money to invest? heh heh...

“There’s an inconsequentiality to our lives that living in the wilderness shows up. Mountain are real, they set their limits, they set ours. They expose us, make us vulnerable and strong at the same time. “

Got the book for Christmas.....I'm enjoying it. What did you think Matt? Is having blank pages a common practice in this type of book?

The book is spectacular, I have it. I've been about 5 or 6 places featured in it.

Asylums are beautiful places, some in a haunting kind of way. They are often difficult to access, and risky, and the hobby (known as urban exploration) is basically illegal lol. I've been a bunch of places, but I'm not like most explorers and I don't make it my main #1 hobby. I split time equally between 4 different things I love to do. There are several locations I have not posted any pictures of publicly, just to protect the location if it's one that's in pristine condition. Here are some I've been to:

Pennhurst (Pennsylvania) was a state school and hospital for the retarded and insane. The places was overcrowded and underfunded, leading to horrible patient conditions. It was shut down in 1987. The video on http://www.elpeecho.com/pennhurst/video.htm shows an investigative report from the 1960's called Suffer the Little Children and what things were like for patients:

Greystone, was a Kirkbride style mental hospital for the insane in New Jersey, closed in 2007 I think:

Medfield, don't know much about this ones history (Massachusetts):

Forest Haven, was the "Pennhurst" of Maryland specifically for black kids:

And finally just one from other assorted places from around the northeast:
