Windows 7

Postby Kelly » Mon Oct 19, 2009 6:16 pm

Anyone going to be brave and get it right away?

I successfully bypassed Vista.....and am in desperate need of a new laptop - so I'm going to be one of the first to give it a go. Comes out Thursday. I'll be patient and wait til Friday!

(Oh, and spare me the recommendations for a Mac! ;) )

I'll try it eventually, the next computer I get will have it on it. I'm still happy with Vista 64bit (unlike everyone else it seems  )!

I have Vista and I think they should give all us Vista users a free upgrade. I'm not so happy with my Vista. I'm also thinking of getting my first laptop, just don't know if it'll be that or the Panasonic G2 DSLR, or a new lens or a new car or another bigger flat screen or........ and the list goes on.

I've had the disk on my desk for about a month with no guts to do it.
but Vista is such a bear on my workflow, I just may give it a shot.... It can't be worse, can it?

My husband upgraded to Snow Leopard recently, but he doesn't want me to yet because of compatibility issues with Adobe CS3.We do use Windows on his laptop for certain things, but it's still on something far before Vista - no strong reason to upgrade since we use it for so little.

I will be sticking with XP for as long as I can. Works perfect for me. It is the apps that count! (Home network - 4 desktops, 2 laptops and one lynx server and 9 printers).

No wonder you refuse to watch The Office. You ARE the office.

haha yeppers nine. I knew that would sound funny!

I have an old HP4 laser as my workhorse printer that just will not die (fixyourownprinter.com for parts when needed). An all in one HP for quick office stuff right behind my main desk. An older HP 1120c (photoret 3) (this is 11x17) an old HP5550 (photoret 4) that I keep legal size paper in and racks of Epson's (r200's and r280's) for printing on blank cd's!

He is a pick of one of the racks:

and the older printers (on the network via a printer router):

The tower is my standalone NAS file server (no keybord or monitor needed)

and a whole bunch of ink!!!!!!!!! haha

haha - funny Kelly! I have been working in an office one way or another for over 30 years. Hey I almost watched 10 seconds of office the other day, (but it was in commercial when I clicked over to it). Seems to me there is a conspiracy in that the stations have commercial breaks at the same time. I hate commercials for some reason.

no but I'm downloading the latest release from MSDN now... I'm going to run the compatibility check on my photolab machine this weekend. I can afford to do a full backup... and upgrade from vista to 7, but any issues and forget it.

I upgraded last night...
it somehow managed to corrupt my NYFalls drive and my photos drive. Not sure how... the install when fine... but the external drives were all blank. Luckily I back up... just not often enough ... took 22 hours to restore from various sources.
I hope I got everything.

This will be my last Windows computer.
