Hudson was a former mental institution following the Kirkbride plan in Poughkeepsie, Ny. It was closed completely in 2003 and has sat abandoned overlooking the Hudson River since. It can be seen driving up Rt 9 through Poughkeepsie.

Wow....all that decay in "7 years", although I'm sure it had started long before it was closed for good....what a shame...the exterior of the building is exquisite...could have been beautiful had it been renovated early on..... Thanks for sharing...appears this shoot was not without a degree of risk...

The Admin was closed in 2003. The wards (the ones with all the holes in the floors) had been progressively closed years before that. There have also been several fires including one in 2007 that wiped out the interior of a whole section of the mens wards.

Also yes it was pretty risky, the floors in the wards were spongy between all the holes :D
