On Sunday, Julie and I and friends Emily and Aaron did the Christian Hollow trail. It was a great day for seeing wildlife! A few miles in we saw a HUGE black bear and her 3 cubs run across the trail and down into a gully and then out of sight. Of course I didn't get my camera out in time. On the way back we saw a dead tree with gouges all around the base between 1 and 4 feet up. Probably bears getting at the bugs inside. This is a good sign since there's a cabin trail only about a half mile away from this spot. Looks like campers are being good about not making their food "available".

I did get this interesting shot of a cluster of beech trees...

We stopped by the administration building before we left and there was all sorts of activity outside by the hummingbird feeder! There were probably about 10-15 of them zooming all over the place around the feeder. They obviously don't stay still long enough to get a good shot but this one was my best. My camera doesn't have much of a zoom so I had to stand a few feet in front of the feeder completely motionless to get this!

I spent the weekend camping in Allegany SP and loved it.
Usually I go there for snow shoeing in winter, so this was my first summer visit of the park.

My campsite was nice and kind of a little bit secluded with a lot of space into the woods to set up a tent.

And finally!! A campfire again :D
In Utah it wasn't allowed due to the fire ban

Originally I wanted to shoot star trails, but some jerks in their trucks and beam lights were driving around the lake for hours.
So I just shot some single exposures with the milky way

and my favorite spot, because I love climbing - Thunder Rocks

Hopefully next time I can hike some of the trails

Looks like you camped along the B loop in Red House?
I love the Milky Way shot!
Send me a message if you want any recommendations on hiking. The park has literally hundreds of miles of trails.

I camped along the A loop and was lucky with my site A 38. Lot of space to have more privacy.
Because I'm spoiled with no one having around me in Utah it's sometimes difficult with the developed campgrounds in our State Parks.

Hiking recommendations are always welcome. The more strenuous, the better it is.
And then hopefully no studies for my mid terms :D
