Our son called earlier in the week to let us know that his Letter to the Editor at the NY Times was going to be published - soon. Today was the day!
Not being a reader of the Times - Sunday or otherwise, I was surprised to learn that 2 copies would set us back $10!

Those are excellent points by your son that deserve to be printed.

I found this prediction by inventor/futurist Ray Kurzweil interesting in a recent City newspaper:

"I just wrote the report for the National Academy of Engineering on energy. We're calling for completely replacing fossil fuels with solar energy in 20 years. We're doubling the amount of solar energy every two years. We're only seven or eight doublings from it meeting 100 percent of our energy needs. If we captured one part in 10,000 of the sunlight that falls on earth, we'd meet 100 percent of our needs. We haven't been able to do that because until recently solar panels have been heavy, inefficient, expensive. The new generation, revolutionized by nanotechnology, are much more efficient, lightweight, cost-effective. " http://www.rochestercitynewspaper.com/n ... new+world/

America needs the equivalent effort of the space race to develop these types of greener technologies. In terms of jobs and economic development, we could engender another American century as well as lead the world in beneficial industry. That is only if we make the right choices and start understanding that crisis can also mean opportunity. For example, here's a plan spelled out in 18 minutes that show exactly how to get out of the oil related energy crisis, make friends and influence people all at the same time It begins with the often ignored fact that is much cheaper to save a barrel of oil than it is to create a new one.

I didn't think that this warranted its own thread, but I received my "official" certification in the mail the other day. Anyone can do this. It's just a matter of filling out a questionnaire and paying for the sign. I just thought that it was kind of cool and my guests have already been commenting about it.

Very nice Brenda...I like it when people are nice to animals. :D
To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams.
