Nope not me climbing the ice. The location is Poke-O-Moonshine campground about 20 miles south of Plattsburg on route 9.
It is a well known rock climbing area with over 180 routes up the rock face.

Thanks Matt,
no filters this time. If I remember I'll put on a CP but not on this trip.

Kane Fire Tower
This tower is well visited in the summer time due to the campsites nearby. The tower was staffed until 1990. The tower and cabin was restored starting in 1995. As you can see the cabin is now a mess, the door is busted off and people (most likely kids) have painted their hands and names all over the walls inside and out. The summit elevation is 2180 feet, I used the south trail which hasa an elevation gain of 580 feet in 7 tenths of a mile.

Woodhull Fire Tower
Located in the Black River Wild Forest lands near McKeever it's a 15.2 mile round trip with only 812 feet elevation change. The first 5 miles can be done on mountain bike or cross country skis depending on the season. We did the bike, note never ride a mountain bike for 11 miles when you haven’t been on a bike in over 20 years. The trail follows an old logging road and passes some old logging camp sites (now fields), it ends at a creek crossing and the hike begins. An easy climb with some good view awaits you on the summit. The tower was built in 1916, the ranger cabin has burned and few signs remain of its present. You can see the Tughill Windmills on the horizon some 40 miles as the crow flies.

most of the color has pasted, the wind mills and Bald fire tower were shot with my 150-500 lens thus a lot of space to compress so the haze is relentless.
