A Dundee, Yates County man is accused of having sexual contact with a horse in the town of Barrington.
Raymond L. Arthurs, 52, of Highland Drive was charged Saturday with sexual misconduct with an animal and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass, both misdemeanors.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office requested a warrant for Arthurs after an investigation that accused him of entering private property and having sexual contact with the mare in August and November of 2012.
According to Lt. Todd Sotir with the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, the property owner heard their dogs barking and went to the barn and allegedly saw Arthurs behind the horse. Arthurs was then said to have fled on foot.
The horse was not injured, said Sotir.
Arthurs was arraigned in Starkey Town Court and was remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
His next court appearance is in March at Barrington Town Court.
