tempting.. you know how i love those chick wines.
Just spent the last two days at the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, camping at Watkins Glen SP. I didn't count how many wines we tasted, but I'm sure I would have lost count. We're partial to dry wines - with that in mind here is our best of show:
Keuka Spring Riesling
Standing Stone Reserve Chardonnay 2009
Standing Stone Merlot 2008
Glenora Gewurztraminer 2012
Lakewood Pinot Noir 2010
Thirsty Owl Chardonnay 2012
Penguin Bay Pinot Grigio
If you are interested in wine, I would highly recommend the festival. We attended a few seminars and talked extensively with the wine makers particularly from Standing Stone, Lakewood and Wagner. Fascinating stuff.
I haven't tasted any of those... hmmm. What do you lean towards, sweet or dry?
Dry, except for Riesling (off-dry)
Most of our preferences come from the east side of Seneca Lake, which has a micro-climate in the Hector area that is very favorable for producing top-notch wine.
George, have you been to Shalestone? Reds are all they do! We buy a good bit of wine from both Standing Stone and Penguin Bay too.
