Montezuma Diamond - 4/5
i really disliked Glenora's Niagara. I had bought a big bottle of it last summer. I couldn't finish it.
I will try thousand islands winery's version when i see it.
Oh really? Well that is why I recommend everyone name a designated discard drinker. I have one whose taste in wine is the opposite of mine. And though yours and mine are not opposites, we have yet to agree on the best Niagara. Feel free to send your discards my way.
Am I really the only wine drinker here? Or just the only one carefree enough to admit it? Or do ya'll drink Italian wines? California wines? Make your own?
Thirsty Owl Wine Company - 2010 - Diamond - 5/5
Smells the most like white grape juice I've had. Tastes grapey and refreshing on a 90 degree day. Or any day. Bottoms up!
No, I drink more than my fair share of wine! Unfortunately, my palate doesn't match my wallet so I can't buy local as often as I'd like.
Finger Lakes Mill Creek Cabins
Maybe I'll be back on the wine in late summer.
Schulze Vineyards - Thirty Mile Point - Sweet Niagara - 5/5
(again, not true Finger Lakes wine - but Niagara County, New York)
First wine to ever earn a 5/5 from my very critical "drinking companion".
Kat Knapp White
A sweet and non-threatening Niagara from Seneca/Cayuga area.
It's pretty much like a mild-white grape juice.
Not from the Finger Lakes, but worth mentioning...
The most popular wine form America's oldest winery
Fruity and intense. Very much like fresh grapes.
We are the only Sereksiya Rosé (pronounced “sir rex see uh”) producer in the USA and one of only two Rkatsiteli (pronounced “ur cots eh tell ee”) producers in the Finger Lakes. This wine is reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc (herbaceous), Riesling (fruit), and Gewürztraminer (spice). It is a light, crisp and refreshing wine and is best consumed over the next 1-2 years. (1.75%)
2008 Black Russian Red
This is an intense wine blend of Saperavi & Sereksiya Charni with an inky purple-black color. Aromas of blackberries, plums and sweet oak lead to a soft, rich mouth-filling wine. Flavors of cranberry, oak, blackberry and elderberry lead to a long finish with smooth tannins. intensely complex and elegant wine. This legendary blend is unique to McGregor Vineyard. produced. Estate Grown
2007 Pinot Noir Select
This Pinot is light red garnet in color and has distinct aromas of raspberry, cherry and plum which all continue onto the palate. It’s medium bodied, soft and spicy. Primarily the Gamay Beaujolais clone of Pinot blended with the Swiss Mariafeld clone. Aged in French oak barrels for one year. (0.0%)
Dr. Frank Rkatsiteli (2010)
One of the oldest vinifera grape varieties known to man, Rkatsiteli is an elegant dry wine which presents a bouquet of fresh flowers and herbs balanced with wonderful fruit and crisp acidity.
oh... I've never heard of Mcgreggor.. I guess I have to explore Keuka Vineyards more
HA!! Coincidentally, I tried my first McGregor wine last night!
McGregor Vineyard - Sunflower White - 2/5
Not as sweet as I like, but for a semi-sweet, not horrrible. Billed as grapey and fruity. I would say it was neither.
Keuka Spring - Vignoles 2011 - 5/5
"A nose of passion fruit and orange blossom opens to a wine graced with aromas of juicy yellow plum and lemon peel. Dried apricot finish. Try it! Make sure you savor the bouquet by swirling and smelling before tasting. Sip this semi-sweet wine chilled, with lemon-roasted chicken or artichokes French, or with appetizers such as humus and pita or fresh vegetables and dip."
