Take a look at downtown ithaca to see the fresh faces of buildings less than 10 years old lining the streets. Andrew garcia, an Ithaca College student, says "Pretty much everything about this town is great, a lot of fun, hip people to chill with, a lot of bars restaurants and fine dining around here, you can get everything you're looking for in Ithaca."
Outside Magazine credits the recent reinvention of Ithaca to its top spot on the Best Towns in America list. Old buildings like the Woolworths are now the Tompkins County Public Library. Parking garages are being added to handle the growing number of visitors each year. Condos are popping up all over, but it's taken time and money to make it happen. Gary Ferguson, with the Downtown Ithaca Alliance, says "Over the past 5 years we have privately and publicly invested $100,000,000 dollars into our downtown and for a town the size of Ithaca, that is a tremendous amount of money."

Aside from all of the urban development going on in downtown Ithaca, you don't have to travel very far to get to places like Ithaca Falls, and those who live here say that's the great part about the town. The August issue of Outside Magazine hits stands Tuesday.
