Drive - 7/10 Not sure what to make of this movie. It's definitely NOT the action movie that's advertised in the trailer. Sure, there's some action and car chase scenes, but it's more like Inglorious Basterds, where there's a LOT of talking, and even complete silence with people looking at each other, before the action starts. But when it does, the action is graphic, brutal and intense. Very concentrated. Not sure about Ryan Gosling, he's either a good actor or a very bad one. Albert Brooks & Bryan Cranston were both good though, especially Brooks.

As for Contaigion, I have pretty much the same impression as Matt. The moral of the story is, don't ask to thank the chef personally at a restaurant in Thailand or wherever it was.

The Big Year - 8.5/10

I really enjoyed this. If you've got any interest at all in birds and know that sometimes you're a nut for caring so much about them, you'll definitely get a charge out of this movie. Steve Martin is always good for a laugh. There are a few unrealistic parts, but the whole thing works. And at PG, it's clean as a whistle which works for me.

Joel, if you haven't seen this, you must!

50/50 - 6/10 - I've had enough of Seth Rogan, who is not funny and has the acting range of a goat. The movie was cute, but with him in it, it suddenly turns into all his other movies: failing to deliver the funny.

Cedar Rapids - 4/10 - It gets a 4 because it helped me get to sleep on the airplane. Otherwise, ZERO!

The Switch - 4/10 - Boring, although I really liked the cast. Who funds these movies?

Your Highness - 3/10 - What a piece of crap with the best specially effects I have ever seen in a silly stoner movie.

Everything Must Go - 7/10 - Finally Will Farrell in a role that isn't over-acting. Worth the watch, but nothing that will leave and imprint.

Black Swan - 10/10 - I've loved Darren Aronofsky since Pi and Requiem for a Dream, but The Wrestler left a bad taste. So I forgot about Black Swan for a while. Loved every second of it. Can't wait to see it again.

Forgot about this topic...and have seen many since my last post. Of course Ive forgotten most of them.

One that stands out though...is You Dont Know Jack and I rate that a 9/10. Great flick about Dr. Jack Kervorkian...played by Al Pacino.

The Way - 7/10

Julie & I went to see this tonight because we heard it was a "hiking movie". Lots of great scenery and the story was interesting and entertaining. Sort of a slow moving plot though. Too many shots of just people walking.

Super 8 - 6/10 - Off to a great start, but just as things get good, it wraps up. Turns out to be another "kids versus the evil military" movie.

My idiot brother - 7/10 - Charming, but I didn't really buy sisters blaming the brother for all of that mess. The climax and turn around of all the characters was a bit of a stretch as well. Some funny moments saved it.

Id bump Super 8 up a tad over 6 but not much. The overall movie is pretty good, but it does wrap up as you say and I was left wanting more. To me it was a rendition of those classic 80s movies that I love all too much...like Goonies and Stand by Me.

The Tree of Life...1/10.

10 minutes of music and graphics, 5 mins of whispering storyline, 10 more minutes of music and graphics...etc. Lasted about a half hour before turning it off.

The worst movie i ever sat through: 画壁 (Mural)
I went to this movie with Jing in Chengdu.
She picked it.
It had subtitles.
It was laughably horrible and it just went on and on for over 2 hours

I give it: 100 thumbs down!

Like Crazy 9/10
Filmed entirely with a Canon EOS 7D on roughly a $200,000 budget and hardly even a script - you don't feel like you're watching actors. It's an emotionally honest look at young love and all of the complications that go with it.

Anton Yelchin & even more so, Felicity Jones, relative unknowns, are outstanding in this, and destined for great success.

Cowboys & Aliens

7/10

A really fun to watch sci-fi action movie with some huge plot holes.

We've been renting a lot:

at the theater though the American version of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo I'd say 8.5-9/10 not as good as the original but a good movie picks up on some of the book the Swedish movie left out, but still left out a lot of the book due to time.

-the help 8/10 again good movie not nearly as good as the book

-the Children 9/10 great horror flick (we did an evil kid movie fest for new years)

-Our Idiot Brother 8.5/10 better then I thought it would be, kind of endearing.

-Harry Potter part II 4/10 only watched it to say we watched all the movies, loved the first one, then each one got worse and worse.

-Fright Night 7/10 not as good as the original but fun.

-Bad Teacher 8/10 expected this to stink, but it was fun! Predictable but fun!

-Horrible Bosses 8/10 same as bad teacher, expected it to be bad and we liked it and had fun watching it.

-Bridesmaids 2/10 ok I went into this thinking it'd be the "girl version of the hangover" which it is NOT. This movie is horrible. Not sure how so many people liked it!?

-Fast Five 7/10 fun action, but the plot is weak as expected. OK popcorn movie that's about it.

-X-men First Class 7/10 fun, but no where near the first movie.

-Hanna 8.5/10 very good movie a tad predictable but good action, good plot.

-the Conspitator 8.5/10 another good movie, makes you think about the judicial system.

-Insidious 8/10 good but not great.
