The thing that sucks about Kitchen Creek Falls is that it's underneath the bridge that carries Rt 118 over Kitchen Creek. It's virtually impossible to photograph, and if you do get in a position to shoot it it's usually pretty dark under there lol.

Yuppers.. I tried to photograph it, and it came out half good and half horrible. The part of the falls that under the bridge came out ok, but the crest was in the bright sunlight and was waaaaaay overexposed. And there's no good view from below either. (above Adams Falls)

in cases like that take two exposures, one for the crest and one for the rest (with a tripod).
They can be combined and adjustment layers used to make a decent pic.
i can show you how it's done if you ever provide the raw materials.

That'd rock!

Is that HDR? I've been contemplating getting into that lately. Does it need to be in RAW (.CR2 on my camera) format? I do take several shots of falls as I "zero in" on the right settings, so I've got a bunch of sets of "bracketed" shots from other falls that I could probably use in HDR processing. Unfortunately, I don't have any decently exposed shots of the the crest of this falls; they're all washed out very badly.

it would not be HDR... more like matting... and i can use JPEGs.
I may be able to fix issues with water without having actual information there.
I actually do it all the time.

Hi Matt, I know your post is old, however I would be interested in learning your technique for combining images and adjustment layers. I have done some, but am not an expert.

Last weekend we went to Ricketts Glen, what a great place. A surprisingly dangerous park for being such a popular park. The cool thing about PA parks is that they are free. I will post pictures soon... We were lucky and were there during high water and at the same time there were patches of ice throughout the gorge.
